Either way, you are left feeling ashamed of who you are. Imagine a life where you did not feel this way. You did not feel controlled by your emotions, you could find joy in accomplishments and mistakes, and you look at yourself with compassion and understanding.
What if I told you that all of our feelings and behaviours have intention and purpose?
I know, you might be skeptical, but finding the purpose behind them can help us build understanding, compassion, and empathy for who we are and why we act in certain ways.
You react with defensiveness? Maybe that was the way you learned to protect yourself and your boundaries growing up. Together we can explore your emotions, reactions, and experiences while building the coping and regulation skills needed to change patterns.
I value collaboration, openness, and safety within a therapy space and will encourage you to express your concerns in any way that best suits you. Whether that is through laughter, crying, or swearing, the space is yours.
Beginning therapy is nerve-wracking, but I hope you take a moment (and a deep breath) to reach out and see how I can help.
